I got a call from champion cycles today to confirm a bearing somewhere in the driveline and to get to it you have to tear down that big ass V- twin! Could be 2 or 3 grand to repair:-( have to call the Harley guy to see what he's gonna do for me.

Man that sucks, good luck, I know a couple of forum members who use independent mechanics that dont charge any where near as much as the dealerships, If you end up out of pocket on this I would recommend contacting one of them.

I'm pretty good at auto mech work I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to yank the motor and split the case to replace a few bearings!

Cool, im glad they are at least making an attenpt to do the right thing. $1000 is great but may go fast is the problem requires a complete tear down of the motor. Also I might get a second opinoin if they are not completly sure what the problem is. Just so that you can be sure you are not about to throw a bunch of money at something that might not be the problem. Have you tried doing a google search on common problems with your specific model & year. I have found that in many cases problems like that are not isolated events but preety common amongst a specific model. keep us posted & good luck

I truly hope to get my bike back this week the service guy said on Friday the mechanic had it back together and wanted to test ride! Never said if the fixed it but mechanic was sure it was in the final drive they were closed today and I was in north east Mississippi over the weekend to busy to call Saturday. If I get it back in time I am going to make the slipper ride on Thursday! How many riders on here usually go there?

We usually tend to do a Slipper Ride about once a month and usually about 8 - 20 riders will show up. Good news on the bike hopefully they fixed the problem. Also confirmed the existence of a lemon law which applies to motorcycle sales in the state of Louisiana. I didnt have a chance to read it yet but check the link i posted in The Rides forum under the Thread: Laws & Information. Also here is a link: www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Rights/State-Laws.aspx?stateid=18

Well I got my bike back!!!! It's about time! The mechanic said he lifted the bike ran it and could hear the noise tore it down from the motor back couldn't find anything broke or wore out everything was tight no slack in any of the bearings! So he slapped it back together to give it a ride and the noise was gone! WTH!!! All he could think was something was out of line somewhere. I'll put some city miles on it make sure it doesn't come back!
