Take the poll and then leave a small note on good times. Early or after noon. How long of a ride? Highway, country roads, around the city etc. Any other info and idea is welcome!!! Thanks guys and Peace and Chicken grease.

I enjoy country roads, do not like riding in the city or on interstates. A good day for me is around 300 miles with a nice lunch break. I like early morning in the summer, a little later in the winter. Not much of a night time rider. I don't drink and ride my motorcycle. I am self employed and enjoy getting away during the week for a quick 4 hour ride (when somebody makes me go). Live on the northshore and do almost all of my local riding there. Favorite day trip destinations are St Francisville, Woodville, Lumberton and Sumrall. Have a GPS and radar detector to help keep me from getting lost or getting a ticket. And that's how I like to roll!!!

Saturday or Sunday are both good for me but Saturday is better during the day because my wife has to work and our only day off together is Sunday.

headhunter,
how does the radar detector work for you? I've been wondering about them. Dont ask me why...

I second the radar question. I'd like to see how it's mounted too!

If I always ride at speeds that don't need a radar detector does that mean I won't be with the group long on a ride?

I have a Valentine radar detector with a mount that is glued on the inside of my windshield and a Heads Up unit in my helmet. There is a sending unit connected to the radar and a small receiving unit inside the helmet that has a matchstick type light that I mount on top in front of your face. When the unit goes off the light warns you then you can look down and see what the threat is and in what direction it is coming from. I am going out for the night but I will post links to the mount and Heads Up unit tomorrow.

I ride a cruiser. I am interested in leisure rides with a group that stays together throughout the ride with destinations near and far. I am not interested in rides with riders who are testing their speed and maneuverability skills on public roads. That should be left to a controlled race track. I don’t enjoy seeing riders picking up pieces of their bike on the side of the road or treating injuries. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation rules for group riding work. I respect traffic laws.
Any planned ride should include information regarding whether it will be a “leisure ride” or a “do what you want to do ride.” Then members will know what to expect and can make an informed decision regarding participation. I suppose it is possible to plan a ride and divide up into those who want a leisure ride and those who don’t. But that must be announced when the ride is planned.

Here is the link to the HARD System www.legalspeeding.com/HARD-System.htm#.UbsUUuCv2ec which is the warning light. This is the link to the windscreen mount www.legalspeeding.com/products.htm#AWM. Both come from the same company Legal Speeding, so both products are on the same page. The owner of the company has had the 3M taped mount on his bike for 3 years and has had no problem, I have had it on mine for around a year. It does not block the instrument panel and is high enough to see it easily. This system works as well as a radar detector in a car. If you are speeding and you are the only thing on the road and they get you with a laser gun you detect the source but they already have you. If they are shooting Laser at someone in front of you it picks it up and you have time to slow down. If it is a speed trap and they are using regular radar and it is constantly on the radar unit will pick it up and you are safe. If they are being sneeky and have the unit off and they turn it on right as you go around a curve or crest over a hill it will detect it too late and they got you! The HARD System is a big, big help and puts my mind at ease, but is not 100%. I have been riding with a group for 3 years now and the lead rider has this system. There was only once that a person in the group got a ticket, not him or the lead pack but someone in the middle. The cop was rolling down the road with the radar off saw the lead group turned on his radar unit and caught someone in the middle. It has also saved the group many, many times. Peace Of Mind is it's biggest plus, I enjoy my rides much more having the system. I already had the Valentine radar detector so it was a no brainer for me to mount it on the bike as well.

[ Why not post your info here? Actually, I would have just crated the poll myself, But I do not appear to have sufficient permissions for that action. And I like the idea of an open poll because anonymous feedback like that is generally more likely to get responses.

You sure? Have you tried creating a thread with a poll ? Not here but in a area where you can create a thread. Here in this thread a poll has already been created and you can't add one on. YOu should be able to make one though. By your level and stars we are on the same level.
