Testing the waters to see how many people would be interested in a trip up to the Smokey Mountains! Some of the countries best roads & scenery can be found up there. Regardless of your skill level, mountain riding will improve upon it. I have a trailer that can carry at least 5 bikes. Those that want to ride up there are more than welcome to do so, but I'll be trailering mine up there. It's actually cheaper to feed one truck than 4-5 bikes anyway. Trailering also saves your tires & back for the fun stuff. I'd say its gotta be at least 5 days of riding to be worth making the trip. 1st & possibly 2nd day we'd be riding in Northern Georgia & probably staying at TWO(Two Wheels Only) motorcycle resort. This area has plenty of awesome warm up roads & lil towns to explore. Probably load up & head north on the 2nd evening & ride the NC/TN roads the rest of the trip. Anyone interested, speak up & let's make this happen! Oh yeah, the sooner the better too, it's getting hotter by the day.

I would defiantly be interested in making that trip, Like you said though cooler months would be alot more appealing Late September / Early October would be nice. I know you have done this trip before so how many days does it take? I could probably only take about 3 days off of work. Also Post a link to that Motorcycle resort and maybe a map of where you want to go. Would this include Deals Gap?

Yes definitely gonna hit Deals Gap. 3 days would be pretty short especially considering the drive there & back combined is at least a day. So that's only a day & 1/2 of riding.

I am new to this group but I am always interested in a good trip to the mountains. I will be in the Ozark National Forest in NW Arkansas next week, please let me know when you are planning to go and all of the details as they unfold.

I wish I could join you guys. I just used my vacation as a staycation. Was supposed to go up and do the dragon but my wife got a new job at g&c Honda in hammond and couldn't take off so instead, I bought her a classic 75 vw beetle to take to car shows with me One day ill make it to the mountains. I've been dreaming about it for years!

The mountains are open year round, lol. So absolutely! The spring is the best time to go because the weather doesn't make you want to ride without your gear, but I'm sure anytime other than winter would be fun. The problem with fall is that there's alot of extra traffic thanks to all the people coming to see the changing of the leaves. The extra traffic typically means there's more police out too!

I was saying fall since you mentioned to make the trip before the heart of the summer, but kinda late for that now. either way, I am game, summer or fall. Of course in the fall, the weather will be much nicer to ride, even with light jacket.

Yeah, we kinda missed the spring already this year, lol. Fall would work & it'll give plenty time for planning. Unless of course I can get off the 4th & 5th which would make for a 4-day weekend if anyone wants to put together a short trip up there this weekend!

I once went up there for 2 days with only 4hrs notice. A friend called me around 1pm on a Friday trying to talk me into it, we were riding in the mountains the following morning.

Not much planning, just enough to have a general direction and off you go. Don't like too much planning lol
